INDHEAP Showcases HeatProfileX at Symposium Zukunft Wärme
July 8, 2026Between 19-21 May, the INDHEAP project participated in the Symposium Zukunft Wärme 2026 in Marburg, Germany, one of the country’s central events dedicated to innovative heating technologies and solutions supporting the heat transition. The symposium brings together researchers, industry representatives, technology providers, and policymakers to discuss pathways towards a more sustainable and resilient heating sector.
During the event, Walter Becke from AEE INTEC presented the poster: “HeatProfileX – The EXCEL-Tool for Thermal Load Profile Generation”
Developed within the INDHEAP project by AEE INTEC, HeatProfileX addresses a common challenge faced by industrial sites: obtaining reliable thermal load profiles when only limited measurement data are available.
The Excel-based tool converts a few weeks of measured thermal load data into a complete annual thermal load profile consisting of 8,760 hourly values. By combining short-term measurements with monthly heat consumption information, HeatProfileX generates realistic year-round load profiles that can serve as a valuable basis for industrial energy planning and decarbonisation activities.
The tool follows a structured workflow that integrates measured operating data, monthly heat consumption records, extrapolation methods, and validation procedures to create plausible annual profiles while minimizing measurement effort. This approach helps reduce the need for extensive long-term monitoring campaigns while providing users with a realistic representation of industrial heat demand.
HeatProfileX was developed to support the planning and assessment of industrial energy systems, particularly in the context of the transition towards more sustainable and renewable heat solutions. The Tool has been developed specifically for the extrapolation of the measurement data of the demonstration site of INDHEAP. For further usability, the tool has been generalized and validated with the replication sites of INDHEAP. Reliable thermal load profiles are essential for evaluating energy-saving measures, integrating renewable energy technologies, and designing future industrial heat systems.
The Symposium Zukunft Wärme provided an excellent opportunity to present the tool to experts from industry and academia and to exchange experiences on the challenges and opportunities associated with industrial heat decarbonisation.
Through developments such as HeatProfileX, INDHEAP continues to contribute practical solutions that support the transformation of industrial energy systems and the wider transition towards climate-neutral industry.
