INDHEAP Featured on CORDIS
November 4, 2026A new CORDIS article, “Turning hybrid solar concepts into industrial reality,” highlights INDHEAP’s progress in developing renewable heat and power solutions for industry.
INDHEAP is bringing together solar thermal collectors, photovoltaics and electric thermal energy storage in an integrated system tailored to industrial environments. The project has completed detailed assessments for its demonstration site in Valdemoro, Spain, and its replication sites in Cyprus and Portugal.
Promising results for industrial decarbonisation
The results featured by CORDIS show that waste heat recovery and other energy-efficiency measures could reduce industrial heat demand by up to 20%. Combining solar technologies with electric heating could also lower overall energy costs by up to 40%.
Moving towards industrial demonstration
Construction of the INDHEAP demonstrator at the TotalEnergies lubricant plant in Spain is underway. The system will integrate renewable generation and energy storage with the site’s existing infrastructure, with testing expected to begin in early 2027.
This next phase will help demonstrate how hybrid renewable technologies can deliver cleaner and more efficient heat and power in real industrial settings.
