INDHEAP Featured in EU Energy Report
October 22, 2026The transition away from fossil fuels requires technologies that can respond to the diverse heat and power needs of European industry. A recent EU Energy report on industrial electrification and energy efficiency highlights projects and solutions supporting this transition, including INDHEAP.
INDHEAP is featured alongside other EU-funded initiatives, including SOLINDARITY, RE-WITCH, SUSHEAT, and the MODERATOR Project. Together, these projects are developing pathways to improve industrial energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and decrease reliance on imported fossil fuels.
An integrated approach to renewable industrial energy
INDHEAP is demonstrating how solar thermal energy, photovoltaics, and flexible electro-thermal energy storage can be integrated to meet industrial heat and power demand more efficiently.
The project focuses on mid-temperature industrial processes, with temperatures of up to 250°C. By combining complementary renewable energy technologies with flexible storage, the proposed system aims to:
- increase the use of renewable energy in industrial processes;
- improve the flexibility of industrial energy systems;
- reduce peak energy demand;
- support more efficient energy management;
- contribute to the decarbonisation of industrial heat and power.
The project’s integrated approach recognises that there is no single technology capable of addressing every industrial energy challenge. Instead, combining renewable generation and storage technologies can help industries make better use of available energy while responding to changing production and consumption patterns.
Turning innovation into practical solutions
The EU Energy report presents examples of technologies being developed and demonstrated across Europe to support industrial electrification and energy efficiency. By bringing these solutions together, the report illustrates how EU-funded research and innovation can help industry reduce energy costs, strengthen energy security, and accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels.
INDHEAP’s inclusion in the report reflects the project’s contribution to this wider European effort. Through technology development, demonstration activities, and collaboration with related initiatives, INDHEAP is working to advance practical renewable energy solutions for a cleaner, more efficient, and more resilient industrial sector.
