NEWHEAT
General information
NEWHEAT designs, finances, builds and operates renewable heat and waste-heat production units adapted to large heat consumers’ needs (industrial sites and district heating networks). As an integrated and technologically independent heat provider, NEWHEAT offers optimal solutions for a reliable, competitive and CO2-free heat supply and guarantee their long-term performance.
Our vision is to combine the most virtuous technologies following a “Merit Order” around innovative heat storage systems to meet the economic and environmental challenges of our customers.
Role in project
- Propose flexible ST+PV Integration Concepts for Demo and Replication Cases.
- Develop the thermal subsystems of the Digital twin of the Hybrid ST+PV DEMO system.
- Develop advanced control strategies and Dynamic Optimization, considering weather and heat and power demand forecasting, until final integration of the controller within the INDHEAP demonstrator.
- Conduct the preliminary studies to host the INDHEAP demonstrator: technical design studies, land securing and permitting.
- Integrate subsystems to build the entire Demo Unit, thanks to a detailed dynamic model of the system to support commissioning and operation phase.
- Participate to the Commissioning, Testing & Optimizing of the Demo Unit.
- Propose innovative business models for hybrid ST-PV plants

SINTEF Energy Research is a part of the SINTEF group, one of Europe’s largest independent research institutes. SINTEF is a non-profit research foundation where no owners can withdraw dividends. Financial profits are invested in scientific equipment and expertise.
Role in project
In IndHEAP, SINTEF Energy Research is the leading partner of WP1, aiming to contribute to increased resource efficiency and renewable energy integration in the demonstration and replication sites. In close collaboration with the partners in WP1, they will optimise the integration points and consumption schedule according to the generation of solar heat and electricity.
Furthermore, they aim to contribute with our knowledge and expertise on energy thermal systems to optimise the complete energy system that will be demonstrated in the project.

The company Absolicon was established in 2005 as a research and development company in solar technology. Today, Absolicon is a business company with more than ten years of operational experience from over 7000 sqm installed area in 20 installations worldwide.
Absolicon T160 technology is certified with Solar Keymark and Absolicon has been awarded the Solar Impulse label for clean and competitive solutions, twice.
Role in project
In INDHEAP, Absolicon will develop and install a new generation of solar thermal collectors to reach higher temperatures and tracking precision.

In INDHEAP, RINA Consulting is leading the exploitation, IPR management and market replicability activities. RINA Consulting will also perform the resource efficiency assessment and the environmental, cost and social assessment.
AEE — Institut für Nachhaltige Technologien
General information
AEE – Institute for Sustainable Technologies (AEE INTEC) was founded in 1988 and is today one of the leading European institutes for applied research in the field of renewable energy and resource efficiency. In the three target group areas ‘Buildings’, ‘Cities & Grids’ and ‘Industrial Systems’ as well as three technological working groups ‘Renewable Energies’, ‘Thermal Storage’ and ‘Water and Process Technologies’, the range of R&D projects carried out extends from basic research projects to the realisation of demonstration plants.
AEE INTEC currently employs around 85 people from eight different countries in Gleisdorf. With an average of three PhD students and around ten diploma students, interns and student assistants, the institute also contributes to the training of highly qualified specialists.
As part of national, European and international research and development projects, AEE INTEC has made a significant contribution to the further development of sustainable technologies in recent years. Clients of these projects are federal states, federal ministries, the European Commission, international organisations such as UNIDO as well as industrial and commercial enterprises.
Role in project
AEE INTEC is involved in a variety of work packages. The ‘Industrial Systems’ department, together with the measurement department, is conducting the energy audit including measurement campaigns – currently (April 2024) – these are being prepared. Later, integration concepts and planning guidelines will be developed for hybrid PV-ST systems and dedicated technical trainings for key stakeholders performed.
The research group ‘Renewable Technologies’ will conduct the monitoring, with the open-source software SunPeek, co-developed by AEE INTEC, being further developed within INDHEAP.

General information
Specialized in disruptive cost-effective solar innovations since 2013 in France, HéliosLite designs complete and patented photovoltaic structures that integrate different technologies resulting from the R&D work carried out by its engineers. HéliosLite masters the entire technical development cycle, conducts collaborative experiments and joins with strategic partners for the industrialization and marketing of its products.
Protected by specific patents, each product provides distinctive technical features for higher performance. HeliosLite has a range of PV structures for flat rooftop and ground mounted installations as well as a unique self-powered data-logger solution. HeliosLite’s products are currently deployed in 8 countries.
Role in project
Improve photovoltaic integration in industrial sites through innovative structures and tools to facilitate project layout and execution.

CyI’s Research Activities focus on scientific and socioeconomic problems of regional relevance and global significance.
CyI’s programmatic priorities, again of regional relevance, cover a range of thematic areas: climate, water, renewable energies, air quality, archaeology, digital cultural heritage, archaeology, and high-performance computing. The Energy, Environment and Water Research Center (EEWRC) focusses on Hydro-diplomacy, Water Management, Renewable Energy Production, Energy Efficiency in the Built Environment, Sustainable Economic Development.
The Energy Department of EEWRC has made significant inroads in becoming the reference energy research organization in Cyprus and the wider EMME region, and it is recognized as a center of European significance. The department forges strategic partnerships at the local, regional, and international levels, and studies the scientific, economic, and societal impacts stemming from the green transition of Cyprus and the wider region. It is pursuing research in three groups with distinct identities but with strong interlinkages:
- The Advanced Renewable Energy Systems (ARES) Group that works on Renewable Energy Technologies, develops and maintains large strategic research infrastructures.
- The Energy Planning and Analysis (EPA) Group that studies and consults national and regional stakeholders on energy planning, associated technoeconomic studies and energy and climate policy.
- The Sustainable Built Environment (SBE) Group that works to enable the urban transition towards sustainable cities and communities.

In INDHEAP, TotalEnergies Marketing España S.A.U. (TEME) will provide the demonstration site at the lubricant blending plant in Valdemoro (Madrid).
TEME has transversal participation in the rest of activities providing process data to design INDHEAP demonstrator and performance the site preparation to receive it.

General information
PIROBLOC was founded in 1977 with the aim to develop the technology related to thermal fluid heating systems, being present with around 1700 installations in all the industry sectors worldwide. We work according to ISO 9001/2015 and to ASME under the “U” Stamp rules.
We have one manufacturing plant close to Barcelona (Spain) where the whole production process is controlled, right from obtaining the material through to the end check before departure, meeting the requirements of each customer. Our product range includes the following products:
- Thermal fluid heaters able to burn conventional fuels,
- Thermal fluid electric heaters,
- Electric steam boilers,
- Heat exchangers, and
- Waste heat recovery heaters.
We have our own design and engineering department, technical and commercial offices, production department as well as assembling and maintenance technicians. Therefor our activity includes the design, manufacture, supply, installation, commissioning, technical support and after-sales service.

AMIRES, The business innovation management institute is a non-profit institute that has been founded with the goal to manage national and international R&D&I projects, to promote different funding opportunities for these projects, to disseminate information and organize events as well as to develop new methods of data acquisition, processing and visualization and testing of their usability.
The institute provides the necessary strategic and administrative support to high quality international teams to achieve their objectives and facilitates the research-industrial and research-policy making interface.
ABIMI follows projects from their initiation and planning, through negotiation, execution, promotion of results and management to the final stage, where exploitation of new technologies, products or services is facilitated.
ABIMI is based in the Czech Republic but provides its services all around Europe.
